The Olabisi house is a contemporary retirement home located in Iperu designed with considerably low maintenance features. The main design strategy included orienting the mostly single storey building towards the
intimate south facing garden with large openings to flood the home with natural light and fresh air. The master suite is a glazed box elevated above the living spaces below with an external metal screen facade incorporating traditional Yoruba symbols, which provides much needed shade and privacy. 
The design decisions were a direct response to the client's mandate: a desire for abundant light, peacefulness, and a relative sense of seclusion from her busy urban surroundings.
